Swine fever from Russia comes to Homel region

The crisis centre to control the disease was set up in the Vetka district.

People living in villages near the Russian border have to slaughter pigs. Some of the slaughtered animals were burnt, Radio Svaboda reports.

African swine fever is believed to return to Belarus from the problem areas in Russia.

The crisis centre to control African swine fever in the villages on the border with Russia was opened in the Vetka district. It is headed by chairman of the district executive committee Andrei Charnenka.

The authorities do not give official information about the outbreak of African swine fever.
