European Belarus campaign activist Siarhei Matskoits gets 20 days in custody

The opposition activist was sent to a detention centre in Akrestsin Street.

Siarhei Matskoits, an activist of the European Belarus civil campaign, was detained this morning by police officers. He was charged with disorderly conduct (article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Minsk's Maskouski district court sentenced him to 20 days in custody.

More than 20 opposition activists have been detained by the police in the last two weeks. Human rights defenders explain the arrests by the ice hockey world championship in Minsk.
