Lukashenka fears Belarusians can take to streets with sticks

  • 5.05.2014, 14:18

The dictator wants the Belarusians to “work at plants on a stable basis ”.

“I hope we can have a peaceful and quiet life and never take to streets with sticks and Molotov cocktails. They are taking to streets with rifles and machine guns, shoot down planes with Igla missiles. They are shooting at their compatriots,” Interfax quotes Lukashenka as saying to workers of BelGee car-making plant in Barysau on Saturday.

He said it shouldn't be allowed.

“This is the main thing. Not because someone tries to intimidate us: Look, Lukashenka bases his election campaign on it. It is two years before the election, but I hear rebukes now. No, I just want you to work as normal,” he underscored.

“We'd better receive $500-600 and work at plants on a stable basis,” he said.
