The offensive painting appeared on Wednesday night and was noticed by a charwoman in the morning.

The vandalism act came unexpected for the consulate’s employees, Nasha Niva reports.

“Earlier, when the well-known events were taking place in Kyiv, people would bring flowers and candles to the building, - a consulate employee Viktoriya Ryzhikova tells. – There were no threats, nothing of the kind towards us ever”.

The swastika was painted over already in the first half of the day, and in the nearest future the consulate plans on purchasing a video monitor.

On the same building, but on another side, there is a memorial shield commemorating the Hrodna Jews, who died in the Second World War. Several years ago neo-fascists poured brown paint on it.
