Belarus's champion thrown behind bars

Yauhen Manko, a football fan and Belarus's champion in four combat sports, was detained at his home.

Football fan Yauhen Manko was detained at his home on May 8. Minsk's Savetski district court sentenced him to 20 days in custody. The man serves the term in the detention centre in Akrestsin Street.

Viasna human rights centre has learnt it from the mother of the 20-year-old man, who won Belarus's championships in four combat sports.

Details of Yauhen Manko's administrative case will be figured out later.

About 250 people were detained ahead of the Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk.
