Political prisoners are not included in the amnesty.

At the session of May 21 “deputies” passed the draft law “On Amnesty in connection with the 70th anniversary of liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders.”

As the chairman of the “parliamentary” commission on national security Viktar Rusak informed, when the draft law was prepared for consideration in the second reading, amendments to the text were mostly technical in nature. It is supposed that about 2,100 persons are to be released from correctional facilities of closed type (penal colonies, colonies, juvenile correctional facilities, detention facilities, remand prisons), and about 630 persons are to be released from common type correctional facilities, BelaPAN informs.

It should be noted that this law does not include political prisoners.
