Deputy heads of Homel regional executive committee arrested

Two deputy heads of the Homel regional executive committee have been detained this morning.

It was said by Aliaksei Voukau, the first deputy head of the Investigation Committee of Belarus, at a briefing in Homel, BelaPAN news agency informs.

According to him, the Investigation Committee investigates a criminal case against the detained officials of the Homel regional executive committee. The criminal case over abuse of power was opened by the Belarusian prosecutor general on the ground of the materials of the main organised crime and corruption department of the Interior Ministry. The suspects are giving evidence.

The officials are charged with violating part 3 of article 424 of the Criminal Code.

Details of the offence and names of the detained people have not been revealed.
