One has to pay from 15,000 to 20,000 dollars to get a job at a scrap metal recycling plant in Minsk.

Charter97.org has learnt it from a source.

“Buying scrap metal is the most 'expensive' job in the Belarusian capital. You should have $15,000-20,000 to get it. But even the money doesn't guarantee you will be hired if you don't have friends there. One scrap centre earns an average of 6,000-10,000 dollars a day. A scrap centre in a good place costs 16,000-25,000 dollars,” he says.

The sources added that the new director of Minskkoopvtorresursy recycling company wanted to earn on scrap metal collecting. He began to remove old workers from good cenres and employ his people.

“The director has been arrested. The people, he had removed, returned. If someone doesn't believe people can have good money in this business, they should go to Minskkoopvtorresursy and look at the cars of the employees. Or you can try to find a job there. You will be said they have no vacancies. But you can see a few closed scrap centres around the town. The company keeps them for the buyers it needs. It concerns this particular company and other Minsk recycling companies that have licences to buy scrap metal,” he underscored.

The former director of Minskkoopvtorresursy was detained during a large-scale “anti-corruption” campaign on accusations of accepting bribes.
