Activist beaten and detained ahead of Chernobyl Way rally

Minsk resident Dzmitry Yushkevich was taken to a police station on April 26.

According to Young Front's press service, the activist was detained shortly before the rally.

Dzmitry Yushkevich was detained near his home, beaten and taken to a police station. The activist was held there until evening, when he was allowed to go home. No charges were presented,” the press release says.

The rally on the occasion of the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster was held in Minsk on April 26. The rally was permitted by the city authorities. This year's demonstration was held under the slogan of defending Belarus from a nuclear threat from Russia.

Six people were detained after the rally.
