Philip Breedlove: Russian Federation may reach its goals in Ukraine in 3 to 5 days

The commander of NATO forces in Europe is convinced that Russia is ready for a military intervention in Ukraine.

General Philip Breedlove stated that today in an interview to the Reuters news agency, Gazeta Wyborcza reports.

“At the borders with Ukraine Russia has concentrated enough forces for an intervention. Russians would need from three to five days in order to reach their goals in Ukraine”, - he said.

The American general characterized today’s situation at Ukraine’s Eastern border as “extremely alarming”. The military man emphasized that NATO had registered the movement of Russian forces at night there, which cannot be called the withdrawal of troops from border regions, announced by Moscow.

We would remind that on the outcomes of the two-day meeting of the heads of MFAs of NATO countries in Brussels the participants have made a decision to increase the defense level of the member-states in the context of the crisis in Ukraine. They also agreed on specific measures for assistance to Kyiv, having promised to intensify cooperation.
