Belarusian students flee to Poland

The number of Belarusian students in Polish universities continue to grow every year.

According to the Perspektywy Education Foundation and the Central Statistical Office of Poland, 35,983 foreign students study at Polish universities in 2013/2014, which is 6,811 more than last year. The data indicate the 23% growth of non-Polish students.

“Polish universities have never seen such a growth before,” PAP has learnt from the Perspektywy Foundation.

The latest data from the Statistical Office show the greatest number of foreign students (more than 15,000) come from Ukraine. They make 42% of the total number of foreign students in Poland. The Ukrainians are followed by students from Belarus (3,743), Norway (1,580), Spain (1,361) and Sweden (1,251).
