Lukashenka dreams about nuclear weapons

The ruler regrets that nuclear weapons were removed from the country.

He said it to journalists yesterday, AFN reports.

“I'd like to say to the West that Crimea is dangerous not because it became a part of Russia. Precedents are important,” Lukashenka said and recalled that he had to sign the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances. “I had to sign this shameful document in the presence of the UK Prime Minister, Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltsin, because our great 'conscious figures' withdrew all state of the art nuclear weapons without any preconditions, gave them for free. Ukraine and Kazakhstan did the same. The three states – Russia, the United States and the UK – guarantied economic security, political, territorial integrity and so on.”

Lukashenka says Ukraine considers the issue of returning nuclear weapons.

“This is dangerous. Several states have withdrawn. Ukraine has said it is withdrawing from the agreement. It gives a free hand to some states, especially those on the verge of producing nuclear weapons. Consequences may be even more terrible. It's a bad precedent,” Lukashenka said.
