Belarusian spy facing 10 years in prison in Poland

Warsaw court officially confirmed that in February it had received the case of the Belarusian espionage suspect.

The press-secretary of a Warsaw district court said that in February the indictment had come in under the articles 130, paragraph 1, and the 270 of the Criminal Code of Poland. She did not reveal the detail, having only said that the defendant’s name was Aliaksandr L. According to the media, he is a citizen of Belarus, PAP reports.

The article 130, paragraph 1, reads: “The person, who takes part in foreign intelligence activities against the Republic of Poland, gets punished with imprisonment for from one up to ten years”. The article 270 reads: “The person, who forges or alters a document with the purpose of using it as genuine, gets punished with a fine, limitation of freedom or imprisonment for from 3 months up to 5 years”.

Recently the charter97.org reported that Poland’s Internal Security Agency detained two Belarusian spies, who worked for Russia. One of them has been recently arrested, and the other one was supposed to have had the indictment submitted by now.
