On 6 February the mother of the kidnapped former Minister of Interior Jury Zakharanka turns 90 years old.

Civic activists from Homiel, Minsk and other cities are rushing today to the village of Vasilevichy near Rechyca in order to congratulate Ullana Zakharanka on the anniversary and bow to her for a wonderful son, a citizen and true patriot of Belarus, Radio Svaboda reports.

An oppositionist general Jury Zakharanka disappeared in Minsk on the evening on 7 May 1999. He had a mere hundred meters to walks to his home in Mahilouskaja Street. Unidentified people grabber him, pushed into a car and since then neither the family of the former minister, nor mother, nor the public has known anything definite of his fate.

Prosecutor’s office, police, and lately the Investigatory Committee send the mother formal replies beside the point. There are about forty of them already, all saying that the investigation on the case number 110352 of the disappearance of the son has been prolonged. This has been going on for almost fifteen years out of the ninety that Ullana Zakharanka has been living.
