Aliaksandr Makajeu: Election is circus in Belarus

  • 3.02.2014, 13:06

Opposition’s participation in elections looks immoral and disgraceful.

The opinion comes from charter97.org’s interview with one of the leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement Aliaksandr Makajeu.

“I think no elections exist in Belarus. So called electoral campaigns are kept only because all civilized world has elections and Lukashenka is compelled to observe the procedure. But in all the elections – parliamentary, municipal, presidential – there are even no ballot manipulations, the ordered numbers are simply put into the protocols. That is why circus show takes place, and that opposition takes part in it looks a bit immoral and disgraceful. In such a situation elections should be ignored”, - the activist believes.

We would remind that starting from 1995 no elections or referendum arranged in Belarus were recognized as free and fair by international organizations.
