Berkut eliminated

The acting head of the Ministry of Interior Affairs signed an order to eliminate the special unit.

Arsen Avakov reported of that on his Facebook account tonight.

There is no more Berkut. I signed the order number 144 as of 25 February 2014 “On the elimination of special police units for civic security Berkut”, - he reported.

Arsen Avakov promised to report on the details at a special briefing on 26 February.

We would remind that the special unit Berkut was used by Ukraine’s authorities for fighting the protest manifestations.
