Conscript send to psychiatrist for being Young Front’s member

Military registration and enlistment office prescribed a Zhlobin resident Aliaksandr Latyshau to have a examination in Homiel region psychiatric hospital.

The information comes from the web-site of the human rights center Viasna.

A district psychiatrist gave his preliminary conclusion, which stated that the conscript “did not have complaints, send for examination due to his participation in the Young Front party (before)”.

The district psychiatrist preliminary diagnosed the activist with a “personality disorder”.

Currently Aliaksandr Latyshau is undergoing an examination at region’s hospital. According to the tentative data, doctors detected no deviations.

We would point out that the cases of the use of punitive psychiatry against opposition activists and civic activists were registered in Belarus before. Bloggers also reported that some conscripts, who appealed for alternative military service were also sent for a psychiatric examination.
