Yury Rubtsou goes to Kuplin to serve his sentence

Homel activist Yury Rubstou, accused of insulting the judge, will serve his sentence in an open type institution No. 7 in the village Kuplin, Pruzhany district. Last night Rubtsou wrote it on his Facebook page. Now he is taking the registration procedure at commandant's office.

Pavel Seviarynets, the co-Chairman of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, used to serve his term there. Rubtsou was charged with a crime under Article 391 of the Criminal Code (Insult of a judge or people's assessor), Viasna Human Rights Center reports

On October 6, 2014 the judge of the Central District Court in Minsk Natallia Vaitsekhovich announced the sentence - two and a half years of imprisonment in an open type institution. He should serve his sentence during a year and a half due to the amnesty, mitigated term of punishment on one year.

On November 21 Minsk City Court, having considered Rubtsou's complaint, affirmed a court decision and the claim was unsettled.

On April 28, 2014 the Savetski District Court in Minsk considered administrative case of Yury Dubtsou, arrested during the authorized rally "Charnobylski shliakh" ("Chernobyl Way"). During the process Rubtsou, delivered half-dressed and without glasses to the court, remarked on the protocol of judicial session, conducted by Kiryl Palulekh, the judge of the Savetski District in Minsk, however, the court did not take it into account. Moreover, Kiryl Palulekh found Rubtsou's comments insulting and filed a petition in court.

On August 5 Yury Rubtsou was questioned at Investigative Committee of Savetski Department in Minsk as a suspect in a criminal case under article 391 "Insult of a judge or people's assessor". The case was based on the statement of the judge Kiryl Palulekh, who claimed that during the consideration of the administrative case of Yury Rubtsoг on April 28 he had allegedly insulted the judge with offensive words.
