Today the dictator stood up for Putin and demanded to lift Western sanctions.

He stated this at a meeting with a former Prime Minister of Italy Romano Prodi, who is in Minsk now.

"By the way, just like you we absolutely do not accept the language of sanctions and expect that Europe will form a reasonable approach in building-up relations with the republics of the former Soviet Union and with the Russian Federation in the first place. We cannot act in terms of sanctions, threats, and so on. Present-day world cannot tolerate towards this", Aliaksandr Lukashenka said.

The dictator also demanded “equal relations with European countries”.

"Given that we are Europeans and our countries are in Europe, we are extremely interested in relation normalization with our European partners. But you should clearly understand that this relation normalization should be based on principles of mutual respect and equality", Lukashenka said.

Currently Romano Prodi holds the position as the President of the Foundation for Worldwide Cooperation.
