Activist from Baranavichy arrested after return from Ukraine

Law-enforcing agencies have detained an activist Dzmity Palojka (Dmitry Polojko) in Baranavichy.

It was impossible to find out anything about the incident from him, as he could not be reached immediately for comment. The city police just said that the activist was placed to the temporary detention facility (IVS), and there is no further information, Viasna human rights centre informs.

“It is a very complicated and sensitive issue. Over the past six month Dzmitry Palojka has been staying in Ukraine, and as soon as he arrived to the railway station in Baranavichy, he was immediately detained. I learnt through my acquaintances, that an administrative report for petty hooliganism had been drawn up against him, and Baranavichy city court found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 days’ arrest, which is served by him now in the temporarily detention facility. But why all relatives are summoned and interrogated in the petty hooliganism case, why are they banned from leaving Baranavichy? There are lots of obscurities in this case, and we are going to follow it,” the human rights activist Syarhei Housha said.
