Siarhei Rumas says Belarus can withdraw from the Eurasian Economic Union at any moment.

Rumas, a representative of Belarus in the Eurasian Economic Commission, said it today answering questions from MPs, Interfax reports.

“The last clause of the treaty says that any state can withdraw from the EEU after necessary procedures. The Republic of Belarus joins the union voluntary. In the same way, it can quit it voluntary,” Siarhei Rumas said.

The Belarusian “house of representatives” adopted the bill on the ratification of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty today. The “council of the republic”, the upper house of the Belarusian “parliament” is expected to consider the EEU Treaty ratification in late afternoon.
