A prosecutor's office will evaluate the remarks by the head of the Belarusian National Television and Radio Company.

Vital Rymasheuski, a co-head pf the organising committee to create the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, comments on the statement by Henadzi Davydzka, the director of the national TV and radio company, who said on television that the words “Glory to Ukraine” were a Nazi salute, charter97.org learnt from the BCD press service.

“The slogan 'Glory to Ukraine, glory to heroes' is a national Ukrainian slogan. It is used by both ordinary citizens and high-ranking officials, including the president of the country. It is unacceptable for a person who manages Belarusian state-owned TV channels to make such statements. He'd better keep his private opinions to himself. The remarks he makes on television are regarded as the official position of a high-ranking Belarusian official,” he noted.

“Davydzka's remark insults the people of Ukraine, stirs up national hatred and thus violates the Criminal Code. Such remarks by officials drag the Belarusians into the carnage instigated by chauvinist propagandists in eastern Ukraine. We will ask a prosecutor's office to evaluate the remarks by Davydzka and figure out if they violate the legislation of the Republic of Belarus,” Vital Rymasheuski said.
