How Spanish olives turn into Belarusian

  • 1.10.2014, 14:14

Two photographs demonstrate the transformation.

A reader of charter97.org sent photos of an old and new can of olives.

The right photo depicts the old can saying that the olives were made by Aceitunas Guadalquivir S.L. from Sevella, Spain, and imported by OOO NovOlive from the village of Kirillovka near Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. The left photo depicts the slightly “improved” design of the can: the text reads that the olives were “processed with lova in the Republic of Belarus”.

So, Spanish olives have turned into Belarusian ones. According to the can, they are made by Brest-based Vastega company and imported to Russia by Moscow-based OOO Uspekh.

“Belarusian shrimps” that were noticed in Russian shops earlier caused many jokes on the internet.
