Kremlin insists on Baumgartner’s release

Russia’s vice-Prime Minister said about the inadmissibility of Uralkali director general’s being held in detention.

Negotiations of the deputy chairman of Russia’s government Arkadiy Dvorkovich and Belarusian vice-Prime Minister Uladzimir Siamashka took place in Moscow.

The Russian vice-Prime Minister claimed that the Kremlin kept considering the situation with Uralkali’s director general unacceptable. Vladislav Baumgartner was detained on 26 August in Minsk after the negotiations with Mikhail Miasnikovich. He emphasized that the company’s representative was visited Minsk and took part in a meeting by Belarusian Prime Minister’s invitation, which had been sent on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, Russian government’s press-service reports.

We would remind that on Belarusian Potassium Company’s case criminal charges have been brought against the chairman of the company’s supervisory board Vladislav Baumgartner, a member of the supervisory board Aleh Piatrou, first deputy director general Kanstantsin Saladounikau, deputy director general of finance Ihar Jaustratau, the head of freight department Dzmitry Samojlau. The reason for bringing the charges were the materials on these people’s having committed explicit power abuse to their benefit, which caused significant damage to state and public interests of the Republic of Belarus, as well as damage to the public corporation Belaruskali and closed corporation BPC.

Vladislav Baumgartner was detained on 26 August in Minsk. Russian authorities have already demanded his immediate release.
