Teachers sent for harvest fighting

Teachers and students will help agriculture workers to harvest in Minsk region.

The information came from the press-secretary of the department of education of Minsk region executive committee Alena Paplauskaja, BelTA reports.

“The assistance is organized in the framework of the action “Let’s harvest until the last grain”, which has become traditional for Minsk region. Over 200 school students are engaged in the action. Children from labor and recreation camps and vocational school students also help harvest”, - she said.

According to Alena Paplauskaja, 248 students are engaged in harvesting from 16 labor and recreation camps in Minsk region. They work at granaries, do land improvements. They get 500 thousand roubles for their labour. The camps in Valozhyn, Lahojsk, Maladziechna, Pukhavichy, Salihorsk, Smaliavichy, Staryja Darohi and Staubcy districts have shown the most intense agricultural engagement.

As of 6 August the agricultural enterprises of Minsk region have harvested 249.9 thousand hectares cereal crops, which is 52% of the plan. 930.5 thousand tons of grain have been milled with the average yield of 35 centners per hectare (last year the average yield on the same day accounted for 41.7 centners per hectare). In terms of productivity Niasvizh (50% of lands harvested, yield – 60.2 centners per hectare), Minsk (28%, 47.1 centners per hectare) districts are leading, in terms of gross grain harvesting – Slutsk (107.7 thousand tons), Kopyl (81.1 thousand tons) and Niasvizh (67.8 thousand tons) districts.
