Uladz Labkovich and Tatsiana Reviaka detained at action of solidarity

Yesterday, on 4 August, there turned two years since the arrest of Ales Bialiatski. Solidarity actions were held in many parts of Belarus.

Pickets, round tables and discussions on the International Day of Solidarity with the civil society and human rights movement in Belarus took place abroad – in Kyiv, Warsaw, Moscow and other cities.

At about 12 a.m. on 4 August human rights defenders and social activists handed out postcards with the chairman of the HRC "Viasna" Ales Bialiatski.

At 12.20 a.m. police detained human rights activists Uladzimir Labkovich and Tatsiana Reviaka. The detainees were guarded to the Savetski District Police Department in Minsk and received charges under Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the order of organizing and holding mass events). Their mobile phones were taken away.

Uladzimir Labkovich and Tatsiana Reviaka are likely to be tried today at 4 p.m.
