Belaruskali director general: Russians flee Belarus and forget their belongings

Belaruskali's authorities threaten Uralkali with a lawsuit.

“A number of circumstances accompanying Uralkali's decision to terminate cooperation with Belaruskali in the framework of the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) need a legal evaluation, director general of the Belarusian company Valery Kiryenka says.

“The negative actions by Uralkali in relation to its former trader need a legal evaluation,” Kiryenka said Monday at a press conference in Salihorsk, Interfax news agency reports.

He noted that BPC's Russian managers had given a number of contracts to Uralkali's trader Uralkali Trading. Besides, “letters were sent to buyers' managers saying that contracts would allegedly be terminated,” Kiryenka said.

“A group of lawyers is considering the issues in the context of the national legislation and international law,” he said.

“The Russian managers of BPC quit in such a hurry that left all their belongings in their flats. They are afraid of returning there for no reasons,” Belaruskali's director general noted.

He adds that as Uralkali is still a shareholder in BPC, it must fulfil all financial obligations following from membership in the company in accordance with the legislation.
