Criminal proceedings have been instituted against managers of AAT Budtrest No. 3, a construction company in Salihorsk, Minsk region.

It allegedly signed an unprofitable contract for building foundations for AAT Krychawtsementnashyfer in Krychaw, Mahilyow region.

The contract with Abelix Ltd. was concluded in February 2011 in violation of rules governing bidding contests, reported the Prosecutor General's Office.

Budtrest No. 3 financed Abelix without regard for the amount of completed work and made "unfounded payments" for materials and equipment for the subcontractor.

As a result, damage estimated at more than 668 million rubels ($75,000) was caused to Budtrest No. 3.

The company's managers are facing a charge of negligence that resulted in large-scale damage to public property, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Investigators are also expected to look at the activities of managers of the now bankrupt Abelix.
