The head of Germany Federal Chancellor’s administration Ronald Pofalla phoned a journalist and a former political prisoner Iryna Khalip.

“Mr. Pofalla congratulated me and expressed hope that the worst has been left behind in my life. The politician said he was very worried for me for these two years as I was facing a criminal punishment. He reminded that last year he had met my husband Andrei Sannikov and, having learnt the details of the story with the persecution of our family, he got even more concerned. The head of Germany Federal Chancellor’s administration has assured me that his country’s government will attentively follow the situation in Belarus“, - Iryna Khalip told the charter97.org web-site.

We would remind that on 19 July the court of Minsk’s Partizan district decided to free the journalist Iryna Khalip from a criminal punishment for participating in a protest action against the rigged elections on 19 December 2010 as the 2-year postponement of the punishment expired.
