Vitebsk activists were fined 20 penalty units for holding a “Chernobyl picket” on April 26.

BPF activists Yan Dziarzhautsau and Vital Kavalenka were tried in the Kastrychnitski district courts in Vitebsk.

They were fined 20 penalty units each.

Vitesbk activist Ales Halavan posted this information on Facebook.

Dziarzhautsau and Kavalenka were accused of carrying out an unsanctioned picket on April 26.

Police reports were made later, when policemen saw photos with placards “Only Belarus's enemy can construct an NPP without public consent” and “Dictator, Astravets can turn into Chernobyl” on the internet.

Judge Inna Hrabouskaya, who is known in Vitebsk for delivering judgements against opposition activists, refused to conduct the trial in Belarusian. Policemen used materials from charter97.org at the trial.

Halavan notes that one of policemen came to the court wearing a t-shirt depicting the USSR coat of arms.
