Spy case sent to prosecutor’s office

After 6 months of investigation the case of Andrej Hajdukou, suspected of espionage, has been sent to prosecutor’s office.

The mother of the activist Volha Hajdukova told about that to the charter97.org web-site.

“The investigation must had ended on 8 May, but it was extended until the 17th. Andrej sent a letter, in which he says that he had already familiarized with the documents. I assume that the case has been sent to prosecutor’s office. The lawyer told me that the case had not been sent to court yet. That is why we will know something tomorrow”, - the mother of the political prisoner noted.

We would remind that according to official information, Andrej Hajdukou was detained while “putting information of interest for foreign special services in a hiding place”. Many take this accusation as senseless. The European Belarus civic campaign put forward a statement, which said that the activist had been detained for disseminating Charter’97 newspapers.

Human rights activists link the persecution of Hajdukou to his oppositional views and see it as an attempt to frighten youth activists.
