Crook parliamentarian sent to prison for eight years

Minsk city court delivered the verdict to Hleb Biadrytski.

Former head of the secretariat of the Council of the Republic was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment, Radio Svaboda reports. The parliamentarian will serve the term on a high security penal colony.

The verdict to Hleb Biadrytski was delivered by a judge Tatsiana Tupik.

The consideration of the criminal case of the former head of the secretariat of the Council of the Republic started in autumn and was held in a closed regime.

There was a long brake taken in the proceedings. On 15 March he was found guilty of acquiring property by the means of power abuse.

It is known that after his arrest Hleb Biadrytski addressed Lukashenka with a request to free him from criminal responsibility, but the request was denied.
