Belarus does not intend to switch to a fully contracted army, the Defense Minister lieutenant general Yury Zhadobin stated.

“We (Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus - Interfax) do not want to and will not refuse an army of conscripts”, - Zhadobin said on Tuesday at a press-conference in Minsk, Interfax reports.

We would remind that earlier Aliaksandr Lukashenka spoke against transferring to a contracted army, supporting the argument saying that “if the army it all contracted, then most of the men will not be able to do military service and women will have no one to marry”.
