This statement was made by the general director Rosatom state nuclear energy company, Sergei Kiriyenko, as he attended the ceremony to start excavating the foundation pit for the second power generating unit.

“The third and fourth power units may be constructed if the customer needs it,” Sergei Kiriyenko said.

“We consider the possibility of applying collaboration experience at the Belarusian NPP to other nuclear power plants in Russia,” the Rosatom head added explaining that Belarusian companies would have the opportunity to receive licences and construct NPPs in Russia. The appropriate intergovernmental agreement is being worked out now, Interfax news agency reports.
