School students ordered to prepare research papers in Russian

A shocking document “for official use” was posted on the internet.

It demonstrated the situation of the Belarusian language in the country.

As charter97.org learnt, the document contains instructions for teachers on preparing research papers. “All information on the cover page should be only in Russian. For panels on foreign and Belarusian philology, the title of the paper should be written in the foreign (Belarusian) language and translated into Russian in the brackets. The rest information on the cover page should be only in Russian,” the document says. It appeared on the internet on December 4.

The document was sent to Minsk schools.
