30 employees may be laid off due to the close of a department at the factory.

The district executive committee held a meeting last Friday to discuss the economic performance of the Vetka district for 9 months of the current year. The fate of the Vetka cotton mill was raised at the meeting, the local website vetka.by reports.

The district head, Andrei Charnenka, has received a letter signed by factory director Valiantsina Kirychenka asking to help employ 30 factory workers who will be laid off due to the closere of the yarn production department. It was the first such incident for the last years in Vetka. The fate of the “died” service centre doesn't allow the local authorities to ignore the possible collapse of the cotton mill.

Andrei Charnenka asked the factory director to say the reasons for the dismissal and name the people guilty. “What is the blame of a worker that the warehouse is filled with finished goods? Is a machine operator responsible for lack of money on the factory's account?” the chairman of the district executive committee asked. Valiantsina Kirychenka had to admit that the blame for failures lied on the director.

The head of Bellegprom group of companies was recommended following the meeting to consider the question of unsuitability of the Vetka cotton mill director for the position held.
