Panic in Homel: Local authorities prepare for Lukashenka's visit

Enterprises of the regional centre prepare for the ruler's visit.

The panic in Homel started yesterday, readers of Belorusski Partizan website report.

The city authorities called directors of enterprises in the city's Navabelitski district at 7 a.m. Lukashneka is expected to visit Gomeldrev wood processing plant. The enterprise is situated near the chemical chalk plant, which is slowly dying surrounded by landscapes far from being beautiful. All enterprises of the Navabelitski district were ordered to send 10 people to clean the area at 8 a.m.

Directors of plants called heads of departments early in the morning asking to send people to work. As a result, street cleaners from Homel's Navabelitski district were ordered to do the work. “The whole road maintenance company took part in the unscheduled clean-up,” workers write.

People were taken to the chemical chalk plant on staff buses. People had to clean the area from railway ties, rubbish, etc.

An eyewitness says that a businessman was unloading his car at the warehouses nearby. A man came to him and rudely ordered to remove his car. The businessman asked to explain the reasons, but the man called someone on the phone and representatives of the authorities arrived in some minutes. They threatened to terminate a lease agreement with the businessman.

At the end of the day workers were ordered to appear at 8 a.m. next day to continue cleaning the area.

All enterprises of the Navebelitski district were cleaned up. Gomeldrev workers say the plant hasn't been working for a week due to the clean-up.

We remind that several officials were dismissed after Lukashenka's visit to Borisovdrev plant. Lukashenka decided to visit other enterprises with similar checks.
