The administration of the special detention facility in the village of Kuplin (Pruzhany district), where political prisoner Pavel Seviarynets serves his term, accepted a water heater as a gift.

Inmates can now take showers, Viasna human rights centre reports.

BCD activists from Kobryn brought the water heater to the detention facility when Seviaryents arrived there, but the staff refused to accept it, because the procedure required many documents.

Pavel Seviarynets said that instatlation of a good Norwegian water heater could solve the problem of hot water in the detention facility. He noted that absence of a shower room was the main problem.

“God bless them to solve the problem. It's awful that 50 men have to live without hot water,” Pavel Seviarynets said.

Pavel Seviarynets, a co-head of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD), serves three years in the special detention facility for participating in the events on December 19, 2010.
