Polatsk university students forced to vote early

  • 19.09.2012, 8:50

The university administration demands residence halls to organize "99% voter turnout at the polling station".

This was reported by a reader of "Nasha Niva".

On September 18 residents of the dormitories № 5 of Polotsk State University were asked to vote early in the parliamentary elections, before Friday. According to members of the Student Council of the hostel, some guy from "above" came and ordered to do a 99 percent voters turnout. Also the commandant of the dormitories will conduct daily records of voters. According to members of the Student Council, many have refused to take part in early voting.

"Students do not have any need to vote early. And participation in the election, according to the law, is voluntary. But it is not an accident that they so strongly insist. Apparently, they want to replace our ballots in the ballot boxes at night to create the illusion of "popular support," - writes the newspaper reader.
