Lukashenka was banned from visiting the UK during the Olympic Games on a decision of the European Commission.

This statement was made by the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge.

“Mr. LukashenkA has been denied to entry to the UK because he is on a blacklist from the EU on travel to the United Kingdom, and we respect that,” Rogge said at a press conference on Friday, BelaPAN news agency reports.

Lukashenka, who heads the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, is on the list of Belarusian officials subject to the EU travel ban.

We remind organizers of the London Summer Olympics denied Alyaksandr Lukashenka accreditation in connection with a crackdown on opposition.
