Belarus's National Bank stops talks on credit from Iran due to sanctions

The National Bank of Belarus has stopped negotiations with the Central Bank of Iran on issuing a $400m loan. The reason is the US sanctions.

Journalists received the news from National Bank chief Nadzezhda Yermakova, BelaPAN news agency reports.

Last October, Yermakova said to journalists negotiations on a loan from Iran were underway.

We remind the United States approved a bill in May to impose a new package of economic sanctions on Iran.

The bill passed by the US Senate, extendsthe sanctions imposed by the US President Barack Obama in January 2012. Foreign organizations dealing with the Central Bank of Iran, which processes Iran's oil purchases, are prohibited from cooperating with American financial institutions.
