Equipment was confiscated from the Union of Poles

(updated) The offices of the Union of Poles' headquarters raided.

An instigator with a search warrant and three riot police officers came to the office rented by unrecognized by the authorities Union of Poles. The warrant says there may be literature with anti-governmental calls in the premises.

Igor Bancer (Ihar Bantsar), an activist of the Union of Poles, told police the office was officially rented by head of the Union of Poles' Council Andrzej Poczobut.

“Take him here so that he could open the door. We don't have the keys,” Bancer says.

The police has brought the mechanics, who opened the door. Computers, documents and publications were confiscated.

In the evening the police raided another office of unrecognized by the authorities the Union of Poles, which named 'Kresowia'. 9 computers were confiscated.

Andrzej Poczobut, a journalist for Polish Gazeta Wyborcza, was arrested on accusations of “libel against the president of Belarus” in his articles, including those on charter97.org website.
