The Interior Ministry of Belarus refuses to say the status of Bakiyev and his family members in Belarus.

The national legislation does not provide for making public the information about the status of former Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev and members of his family in Belarus, chief of citizenship and migration department at the Interior Ministry of Belarus Alyaksei Byahun, Interfax news agency reports.

“The Belarusian law on refugees, the law on citizenship and the law on informatization and information security do not provide for revealing the data regarding a status of a person in the country without his or her personal request. I am not authorized to give information about the status of Bakiyev and his family members in Belarus,” Byahun said at a press conference in Minsk on Tuesday.
