MAZ workers do not get vacation pay

  • 12.06.2012, 13:15

Holidays plans of some workers failed.

Styapan Paulovich and Dzmitry Sauchanka, workers of basic parts shop at the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), cannot receive their holiday pay that should have been paid to them 7 days ago.

The workers are angry, bkdp.org reports. Under the collective labour contract, the employer must pay the holiday allowance not later than 3 days before the beginning of holiday in accordance with the schedule. If allowance is not paid, an employee has the right to go to work until he receives the pay. In this case, holiday is prolonged to a number of days of the delay.

Dzmitry Sauchanka went on vacation and waits for the holiday pay at home. Styapan Paulovich, a veteran of labour and honourory donor, continues to work. He sees no sense going on holiday without money. He says his holiday plans failed:

“Earlier, it was possible to phone director Barouski and solve the problems during some minutes. It's different now. There are rules of addressing senior managers. Those wanting to put a question to the director at a meeting with personnel, must hear special instructions. Plant's newspaper Avtozavodets writes the director received no questions at the last two meetings. Isn't it strange?”
