Execution of Kanavalau and Kavalyou was Lukashenka's personal decision

  • 26.04.2012, 10:53

The Pardon Commission recommended not to execute the young men.

Charter97.org has learned this from informed sources.

A decision to execute the death sentence was taken personally by Alyaksandr Lukashneka in spite of recommendations of the Pardon Commission not to execute Dzmitry Kanavalau and Uladzislau Kavalyou, the men accused of the Minsk metro bomb attack.

We remind the execution of the young men provoked a wave of condemnation and outrage on the West. The world community thinks convincing proofs of the guilt of Kanavalau and Kavalyou were not presented during trial.
