In his letter, Mikola Statkievich writes about his new cellmate and the appeal for pardon.

The political prisoner wrote that his new cellmate is the former deputy commander of the military unit of the interior forces, which is associated with the kidnappings and murders of oppositionists in the late 90s. According to the ex-candidate, his cellmate denies having part in the “famous murders”. Statkievich described the military man as “well-balanced”, Radio Svaboda reports.

The letter from Mikola Statkievich is dated 12 April, which was before the release of Andrei Sannikov and Zmitser Bandarenka. However, Mikola Statkievich made his position concerning the appeal for pardon clear once again. The politician’s wife Maryna Adamovich cited his letter:

“I already expressed my position in my letter in September. I don’t find it necessary either to add, or to change something. I don’t even want to talk about appealing.”
