The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Uri Rosenthal, condemned the execution of Dzmitry Kanavalau (Dmitty Konovalov) and Uladzislau Kavalyou (Vladislav Kovalyou).

“It is unacceptable that Belarus still carries out death sentences,” he said.

“I again call on the EU to step up sanctions against this last dictatorship in Europe,” Dutch foreign minister Uri Rosenthal stressed, Radio Svaboda reports.

The execution of Kanavalau and Kavalyou was earlier condemned by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, Chief of Staff of the German Chancellery Ronald Pofalla, EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.
