Füle considers expel of ambassadors from Belarus “counterproductive”

The EU Commissioner calls the decision of the Belarusian authorities to expel ambassadors of Poland and the EU “counterproductive”.

“Whatever is taking us away from the most important tasks – and as I see them, the task No. 1 is to release all political prisoners and to rehabilitate them and second, to reengage with Belarus to the benefit of the citizens of Belarus – is unhelpful and counterproductive,” Stefan Füle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, said at a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday, BBC reports.

These actions by Lukashenka were a response to political sanctions against Belarus: 21 officials, 19 judges and two police officers, responsible for arrests of the regime opponents were added to the EU blacklist.
