Fire at NPP constriction site in Astravets

A fire happened at the nuclear power plant construction site in Astravets at 6 am on February 12, but information about it was spread only yesterday.

According to construction workers, a trailer at the security area of the construction site took fire. Specialists suppose a possible cause of the fire could be a wiring problem, Radio Svaboda reports.

Construction workers’ belongings kept in the trailer are reported to have been burnt. The preliminary damage of the fire is estimated at about 10 million rubles. A special commission has been created to investigate the incident.

The Astravets department of the Emergency Ministry says no human losses were recorded.
