Opposition activist detained on border

A car of Fair World party activist was detained at Novaya Huta checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

Ilona Tkachova, her husband and child were returning home after holidays BelaPAN news agency reports.

The activist and her family have been on the border for five hours. No official reasons for the detention were given.

“We flew from Egypt to Kyiv. We were travelling by car from Ukraine to Belarus. We didn't have problems on other borders. We were searched at Novaya Huta. We were waiting for a long time. They now don't want to let us go. A camera and a laptop were seized, though we don't have any secret information. We were shown a scanned document saying we must be searched,” the activist said.
